Rock n’ roll

Interesting night last night. After work, I grabbed a bit to eat and debated whether to go out and find some interesting place to hang out, but decided I was too tired yet and went back to the apartment to read and go to bed, especially since I am working today (Saturday).

I’m not sure whether there was a party in my building or somewhere on the street below, but there was a non-stop thumping until about 2 AM. A bit annoying since I was trying to read, but not a big deal.

However, just past midnight I was able to experience something that I didn’t expect. My apartment visibly shook, briefly but distinctly. A quick back and forth. I was pretty sure it was an earthquake, but having never been in one, I wasn’t really sure. Maybe it was just a REALLY GOOD party downstairs.

Well, I did a little googling when I got in to the office this morning, and sure enough, it was exactly as I thought it was. And a 4.5 to boot. Not huge, but also not insignificant.

So that was fun. I am glad I was awake instead of just sleeping through it. Involuntary “rocking and rolling” in more ways than one last night.

(When I’m done working today, I’ll find an internet cafe downtown and post a bunch more. I have pictures of a number of things and I hope to get them all up then. So stay tuned!!)

Hey Wayne, don’t you remember the big earthquake in Milbank? You were pretty young but we were old enough that I was babysitting. You and Tim told Mom and Dad how you ‘fell’ out of bed when it hit!! Actors back then! I am glad to see you are doing well there. The place looks nice. I am currently baking bars for Mindy. She called first thing this morning and wanted Moms recipe for the bars she baked for Keri’s graduation. She wants them for tomorrow when Mark is home. I just told her I would make them for her. She has been so excited she hasn’t slept all week. It will be an exciting day tomorrow, parade and party! I will take pictures and you will have to tell me how to get them to you. Take care! P.S. How come you didn’t tell me how easy this was!

Well, I thought I had told you how easy it was, but oh well.

I don’t really remember the earthquake, though I remember Mom talking about it making the roof fall in at work.

Great to hear about Mark and the rest of the unit coming home. I look forward to seeing everyone as soon as I get the chance.
