Quinn breaking new ground

It’s been an interesting week for everyone, but especially for our favorite little boy.

He appears to have fully recovered from my absence. I think he wasn’t 100% sure who I was when I first got back, but after a full day with me last Saturday, he was like he always was. And yes, I did notice some changes after 3 weeks overseas. A little more hair, a little more weight, and a whole lot more squirmy. Much harder to hold on to than a month ago.

So we took him to his first hockey game this week as the Wild played Buffalo (preseason). Our digital camera is out of commission, so we took some with our film camera that hopefully turned out and will be posted when we get them developed. He looked smashing in his Wild jersey shirt and pants and didn’t mind the noise. We were a little concerned about his eating/sleeping schedule, but he really did pretty well. Everyone sitting around us thought he was great.

We never leave games early, but since the Wild were up 6-3 and we wanted to get Quinn home, we bugged out with about 3 minutes left in the game. We were just about out the door when I heard Gretchen say something behind me. I turned around and Quinn had thrown up all over. Not just baby spit up either, this was full-blown throw up. Thankfully, we were near a women’s restroom, so they ducked in as I wiped the floor and waited. Gretchen could only clean up to a certain point, so we just hustled him home, cleaned him up, started some laundry, and put him to bed. A great night overall, but it will be an even better story to tell him when he gets older. “You puked all over mommy at your first hockey game.” I can’t wait.

We also think he’s getting more teeth as he just wasn’t himself yesterday. He cried most of the day which is VERY unlike him and cried quite a bit last night except for when I took him outside, which always seems to calm him. Gretchen gave him some Oragel after we brought him in and that also seemed to settle him down. He had a fever and still cried regularly during the night, but we kept giving him medicine and he seemed a lot better by this morning.

Anyway, I thought I would give a brief update since I haven’t written in a while. My trip to Australia was fine, though I worked more than I have ever had to since my bookselling days. So that’s why there weren’t more posts from there.

Can’t wait to see the pictures of Quinn in his Wild outfit! I’ll bet he makes his Uncle Tim proud!
Glad your trip went well – thinking of all you last night with the storm that went through.
    Gotta get back to work!
    Love to all

I’m betting Quinn is the cutest little Wild fan in the Xcel Center. Too bad he had to end the “first game” the way he did but it will make a great “first” story for him when he’s older.

Sorry to hear the teeth are giving him so much trouble. Hopefully, it will be short-lived. I know Wayne had quite the time cutting some of his teeth but his irritation usually showed up more as diaper rash!! (Sorry, Wayne – that’s just the way you reacted.)

Hope to see all of you soon. Thanks for the update, Wayne.

Love to all from Grandma & Grandpa B.
