Hot in Minnesota
We’ve been back in MN for nearly a month now and things are great. My brother Tim just got married this weekend so we’ll have some photos and stories from that soon.
Even though we were away for only a year, I had forgotten how hot it can get here. Lots of people in NZ asked us what it was like to live in Minnesota and I recall telling everyone that we get greater extremes of temperature, but only occasionally would it get as hot as 90 degrees (that’s 32.2 C) and rarely over 100 (37.7). While it hasn’t been 100 yet (to my knowledge), I don’t recall having so many 90 degree days as we’ve had in July. This is what we’ve had since we’ve been home F(C):
July 1 – 83 (28)
July 2 – 81 (27)
July 3 – 85 (29)
July 4 – 90 (32)
July 5 – 89 (31)
July 6 – 89 (31)
July 7 – 98 (36)
July 8 – 93 (33) – This was the Roger’s birthday; we’re very happy it wasn’t the day before ![]()
July 9 – 85 (29)
July 10 – 78 (25)
July 11 – 77 (25)
July 12 – 78 (25)
July 13 – 79 (26)
July 14 – 79 (26)
July 15 – 83 (28)
July 16 – 85 (29)
July 17 – 88 (31)
July 18 – 91 (32)
July 19 – 80 (26)
July 20 – 78 (25)
July 21 – 83 (28)
July 22 – 84 (28)
July 23 – 83 (28)
July 24 – 90 (32)
July 25 – 92 (33)
July 26 – 96 (35)
July 27 – 88 (31)
July 28 – 86 (30) Tim’s wedding
July 29 – 87 (30)
July 30 – 90 (32)
July 31 – 91 (33) – projected for today
So that’s 1/3 of July over 90 and another 1/3 over 85. It’s also been very humid with very little rain so it feels even hotter.
Griping about the weather is popular everywhere I guess and Minnesota is no different, though I think we have an appreciation here for warm weather since it gets so cold in the winter. Hopefully this gives some of you down under a better idea of what it’s like here. For those of you contemplating a visit, may I suggest coming in October?
